Introduction
The Transportation Museum of Thunder Bay is a non-profit volunteer organization and there are many opportunities for interested individuals or groups to get involved with us in the exciting transportation history of Thunder Bay and the area.
We are looking for you to help us tell our transportation story to the world.
Interested in Helping Us?
We have opportunities for just about everyone and although having a skill set is helpful those without experience are welcome as well. We do training.
We have positions available on several committees such the volunteer committee, the gift shop committee, the marketing committee or the social media committee. There are available positions on the board of directors but does require an application and vetting process.
Perhaps you have a trade from a former occupation and would like to participate in the upkeep of our major exhibits like the CCGS Alexander Henry or Dryden Three tug. Every season the major exhibits get upgrades in painting and maintenance.
Maybe you are a people person and would like to tell our story to our visitors as one of our informative tour guides or interact with the public in the admission and gift shop department.
Maybe you like to clean or polish brass or cut grass or swab the deck of the ship.
During the season we also perform specialized tasks which might need a crew of people such as helping transporting items or exhibits or working as part of a team during special events.
For organizations that would like to volunteer for a special project let us know and we can work together and develop a fun day or weekend experience.
We recognize the value of our volunteers and the time and commitment they give to our organization. There are no minimum time requirements and we can develop a schedule that is in line with your availability.
Volunteers are required to adhere to all government health and safety guidelines and TMTB policies.
