Save the Date – The Black Tide is this years theme on decks of the Alexander Henry in October, hosted by the Transportation Museum of Thunder Bay, as a fundraiser for Our Kids Count. This immersive haunted ship experience runs on selected Thursday-Friday- and Saturdays, from Oct 8th. through October 24, 2026. Stay tuned as there will be an announcement on Family event.

Enjoy a personalized tour aboard the Alexander Henry, a former Canadian Coast Guard vessel that served Thunder Bay. Come see the handy work of local workmen who built this ice breaker, buoy tender in the late 1950’s. Tours take place from Thursday to Monday weekly until July 1st when we run everyday. Come aboard!
🎟️ “Keep History Rolling – A Museum on the Move” Fundraising Dinner a Great Success!
We are thrilled to share that our recent fundraising dinner was a wonderful success, thanks to the incredible support of our members, friends, sponsors, and supporters.
The evening kicked off with a delicious dinner at the Current River Recreation Centre, followed by lively musical entertainment from the Loughlin Band. Guests were also treated to engaging talks from our guest speakers: Bill Reist from the Friends of Grain Elevators, who spoke on Pool 2, and historian Dave Battistel, who spoke on the Graham Subdivision.
Thanks to your generosity, the event raised $5,600 – funds that will continue to support the museum’s mission of connecting our community to our shared transportation history.
A heartfelt thank you as well to our dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and all who made the evening so memorable. We’re already looking forward to seeing everyone again next year!

On the Victoria Day weekend, tours will begin for the season at the Alexander Museum Ship. Soon a link will be provided to book your tours and to enjoy the experience of touring a Parks Canada National Historic site. The site will be open on Saturday May 16, 2026

Working in partnership with the Superior Shores Gaming Association, the Transportation Museum of Thunder Bay has achieved significant on-site improvements. Our volunteers have played a key role in this success by participating in monthly bingo shifts, where they meet and share information with the public—encouraging future visits to the Museum.
To continue enhancing our guests’ experience, we are now focusing on the ongoing maintenance of the Alexander Henry Museum Ship. Keeping this historic vessel in top condition is essential to ensuring a memorable and enjoyable onboard visit.
