Welcome Aboard!

The Thunder Bay Transportation Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing transportation artifacts that tell the story of Thunder Bay and its historic cities, Port Arthur and Fort William. Nestled along the shores of Lake Superior at Marina Park’s Pool 6 site, the museum invites you to step aboard the Alexander Henry, a legendary Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker built by Port Arthur Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. From 1959 to 1985, it navigated the Great Lakes, and in 2023, it was honoured as a National Historic Site for its pivotal role in Canada’s maritime heritage.
